To practice orthodontics, Dr. Westfall spent 11 years in training (four years of college, four years of dental school, and three years of orthodontics residency). The orthodontic student spends three years learning the skills needed to manage tooth movement and to guide facial development.

First, Dr. Westfall passed a thorough written examination. He then presented patient cases that were evaluated by examiners chosen by the board.

Having passed both exams, Dr. Westfall is proudly a board-certified orthodontist and will undergo periodic re-examinations to maintain that status.
