Both Dr. Jonathan Westfall and Dr. Ian Weaver are orthodontists—meaning they’re not just dentists, but dental specialists with years of additional training focused exclusively on moving teeth and guiding facial development.

Out of 100 dental school graduates, only about six go on to become orthodontists. To earn this distinction, both Dr. Westfall and Dr. Weaver completed 11 years of rigorous education and training: four years of college, four years of dental school, and three years of orthodontic residency. During residency, they honed the specialized skills needed to create healthy bites, balanced facial structures, and confident smiles.

Dr. Westfall has gone even further by becoming board-certified through the American Board of Orthodontics—a credential that demonstrates his commitment to the highest standards of care. To achieve this, he passed a comprehensive written exam and presented real patient cases that were carefully evaluated by board examiners. Maintaining this certification also requires ongoing re-examinations, ensuring he continues to meet the profession’s highest expectations.

Gone are the days of painful headgear, clunky bands on every tooth, and overly tight stainless steel wires. Today’s orthodontic treatment is much more comfortable than it used to be. This is because of shape-memory NiTi wires.

With the same technology that NASA uses, NiTi wires exert a continuous force against the teeth to move them in the right direction. This gets rid of the need for wire tightening. This means you spend less time in braces, and the time you do spend is more comfortable.
